About Me
Hi my name is Ken , and I' am from South Wales. My passion for birds began in 1992 when I was primarily a bird watcher rather than a bird photographer. This interest developed during many days spent with my brother-in-law, John Hide. He has played a significant role in our local woodlands by putting up and maintaining numerous nest boxes, and he is licensed to ring the nestlings of our summer migrants, such as the Pied Flycatcher and Redstart, along with the local resident woodland birds.
Experiencing these birds up close sparked my desire to pursue bird photography. At the time, I was unemployed, which made acquiring the necessary equipment very difficult . However, as I gradually found work and saved, I was able to purchase a 35mm Olympus OM1 along with a 200mm lens and a 2x converter. Although this setup was not the most advanced, it marked the beginning of my journey into the world of bird photography which was entirely film-based at that time.
Today my camera is a Nikon Z 7, 150 600mm Sigma Sport lens, the camera is not the best for bird photography I could get a Cannon R6 but that camera is way out of my price range, I find my Z 7 is producing excellent image quality & very sharp photos and with a 45.7 MP I find I can Crop the photo and still maintain a sharp image.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the images on my website and if you like you can leave a comment.
